9:15 Ushers Quick Sheet


ARRIVE: Be ready at the rear of the Sanctuary by 9:00

COFFEE: If necessary, make coffee in Upper Room & place pots on hotplates in Narthex. 

BEFORE THE SERVICE STARTS

CANDLES: If there is no acolyte (check with Pastor), light both altar candles when the service music starts.

GREET WORSHIPPERS: With a smile and by name, if you can, and hand them a service bulletin.  Watch for late arrivals after the service starts.

DURING THE SERIVCE

SANTUARY DOORS: Close rear and side doors when service music starts.

SANCTUARY LIGHTS: (Press remote buttons for no more than One second at a time) If Pastor uses projector, dim lights with remote control (Press ‘PROJ’ button).

COMMUNION: (continuous): Start a line at each side.  Do not wait - Keep lines full. If one side of pews finishes first, invite remaining persons to commune at other side. Ushers commune last.

OFFERING: When the offering song starts, come forward and gather the offerings with the wooden plates from usher’s closet. Keep plates at rear until after the service ends.

FELLOWSHIP FOLDERS: Be ready to pass them out front to back, from the side aisles when Pastor’s homily (sermon) begins.

WORSHIP ATTENDANCE COUNT: Count every breathing soul present– including pastors, choir, musicians, babies, all persons in nursery. Enter the count in red book kept in the usher’s closet

REAR & SIDE SANCTUARY DOORS: Latch them open as the pastor comes to the rear of the sanctuary at the end of the service.

AFTER THE SERVICE – Before Leaving

PEWS AND HYMNAL RACKS: Check & straighten hymnal racks, remove trash from pews & floor. Remove the Fellowship folders & replace them in the usher’s closet.

OFFERING SECURITY: Place offerings into the marked bag in the Sacristy & place it in the lock box in the Sacristy.  Return wooden offering plates to the Ushers closet.

CANDLES: If there is no acolyte, extinguish only the altar candles after the service.  Leave the center Pascal candle lit.
