What can you expect when you attend?

Who are we?

Zion consists of a wide range of people of all backgrounds and ages. So you can expect a friendly welcome visiting our church. We invite you to come.

When to arrive

If you are thinking about making a first visit to our church, it's probably best to plan on arriving about 9:15 am for our Sunday worship. There is plenty of free parking near the front door. For directions to reach us, please see the map page. You'll be greeted at the door by our welcoming team who will give you a booklet with information about the church service that Sunday and upcoming events.

What to wear

This is easy. Wear what you'd feel comfortable in. There is no need to dress up in something you wouldn't normally wear. Whether you come in a business suit or a bit more laid back, you are welcome here just the same.

What to expect

We've all had a 'first day' at church ourselves, so you'll find we are a rather friendly bunch! If you don't understand something, ask your neighbor sitting next to you. We start at 9:30 am with a few minutes of welcome, then we spend about 55 minutes worshiping. Our worship time consists of modern songs (with guitar and keyboard), a Bible reading, a prayer by the leader, and bread and wine (or grape juice). All members of the family participates in the worship for the first fifteen minutes, but at 9:45 the kids and youth go to their own groups. (We also have a nursery for the little ones.) We then have a talk from the Bible that is relevant and meaningful to our modern lives. We finish our meeting at 10:30. Our plan is that whether you are looking into Christianity for the first time or have been a Christian for lots of years, you'd be encouraged and inspired by the morning. We hope that everyone will draw closer to God.

What we believe

We are a Christian church and believe that everyone can have a relationship with God. We believe this relationship is possible because of Jesus (God's son) who invites us to follow him. If you are interested in exploring the Christian faith, please come on a Sunday morning or contact the office to ask for a free booklet.

Is it just Sundays?

Absolutely not! God is with us all week long and thought we are not perfect, we aim to lead lives pleasing to him. To further encourage this we have midweek small groups for things like music, Bible study, taking food to those shut-in, and many other interests. Small groups are a great way to get to know others in the church and to be real with each other through everyday living.

For those with disabilities

accessibleWe work hard to be a church without barriers. All buildings are accessible for those with disabilities. We have reserved parking spaces with a ramp to the entrance. Both the kitchen and toilets are wheelchair accessible. We also have a wireless listening system to help those who would like to use it.

Words we use

While we try not to, it may seem at times that we speak in code around here. So here is a magic decoder list of some words you may hear.
