“See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”
Too often we find ourselves looking at the world around us with eyes filled with distrust, frustration and anger. Too often we think the worst of others and wonder why life seems such a mess.
Let me ask you this; How did you start your day? Were you dreading what was about to take place? Regretting what you did or didn’t do? Wishing things were different? OR Did you wake; hopeful for what the day would hold? Eager to see what God had in store? Anticipating what you might learn?
We read in the above text from Isaiah that God is doing a new thing! God is always creating, making things new, us included. Let us open our eyes so that we might see the goodness of God is everything!
Where is Your Hope?
“For our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
even as we hope in you.”
Where is your hope? What is your foundation? What holds you together?
I continue to hear time and time again, “I can’t take it anymore? When will all this end? When will things be back to normal? I want my life back!” I know you’ve heard it too and likely said the same words.
But…for today, let God’s Word redirect your heart and mind. Do not place your hope in mankind (remember mankind is the one who messed things up in the first place in the garden of Eden). Mankind is fallible, selfish, arrogant and pushy). Instead, rely upon God. Trust and hope in God and God’s Holy Word. God promises good things. God promises to NEVER leave or forsake us. God promises to love, unconditionally and forgive abundantly. This is where our hope must lie. In God there is life. In God there is hope. In God there is Love!
“As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility meekness and patience.”
Can you imagine what your home, workplace, school, church, community, country and world might look like IF each of us clothed ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility meekness and patience every morning when we got up???? If we begin with a positive attitude and give in kindness to others, we indeed will BE the light of Christ!
This is our Epiphany challenge. To BE the light of Jesus! How will you reap compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience today? Take a moment. Make a difference. Start now!
