2020 Christian Summer Day Camp has
We received correspondence from the LOMO Board of Directors, stating that our Summer Day Camp has been canceled.
A LOMO spokesperson stated, “Our number one priority is to love each and every person we encounter; this includes campers, donors, retreaters, students, volunteers, and employees. Because of this priority, we, as a Board of Directors and leadership staff, have made the difficult decision to keep our camps closed until further notice. Based on medical advice, we do not believe we are able to keep everyone safe from the coronavirus while they participate in camp programs. We will not be offering traditional camp programs this summer through Lutheran Memorial Camp (LMC), Camp Luther, LOMO Outreach, and Amazing Grace Day Camps. We ask you to pray for us also as we navigate these unchartered waters. Thank you for the many ways you support your camping ministry. “
“LOMO, LMC, and Luther are blessed with faithful donors, volunteers, and campers. We need your support now more than ever. The insurance company does not cover loss of revenue due to a pandemic, virus, or bacteria. Many expenses of camp continue. We ask that anyone who has the ability to give financially to do so – you may give online at lomocamps.org/donate. TOGETHER in Spirit, we will get through this pandemic one day at a time. We look forward to the happy day when we will open the camps again and celebrate life in Christian community.”
Although we were heartbroken to hear of LOMO’s decision, we applaud their strong resolve and self-sacrifice for the safety of others.
We are currently exploring the option of having virtual VBS for our children and community. This planning is in the very early stages, but we are excited about the countless possibilities! Please stay tuned to our Facebook page, our website, bulletin blasts, and emails for details as they become finalized.
